A 2015 survey into the social enterprise sector found that there are approximately 70,000 social enterprises in the UK, contributing ￡24 billion to the economy and employing nearly a million people. The sector is responsible for some of the most innovative and people focused solutions to modern issues. We know that investment is key for the social enterprise sector to grow. The social enterprise funds social enterprises who deliver in the Stockport area to grow their social businesses.
This fund opens once a year for applications. All decisions are made by an independent grants panel, which is a formal subsidiary of the Equity Enterprise Board. The panel is made up of Equity Board Members, Colleagues and Customers and makes decisions against a criteria framework. The panel may invite appropriate experts to join the panel to advise on specialist topics as required.
